Eight Injured after Alleged Vehicle Chase

Earlier this morning, just before 7am, Mi7 National Group's Emergency Medical Services was dispatched after reports of a Motor Vehicle Accident on Alexandra Road, Pietermaritzburg, near the police station.
Mi7 medics found that one vehicle had left the road and collided with a tree, leaving eight people with minor to moderate injuries. Mi7 medics got to work, stabilizing patients - some of whom requiring Advanced Life Support interventions - before transporting them to hospital.
According to some of the patients, they were being chased by a vehicle they described as belonging to a local taxi association. While trying to flee to the police station, the driver lost control and crashed.
The police are investigating the matter further.
