Three male suspects were arrested by the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) K9 Unit in possession of a hijacked truck in Lawley, south of Johannesburg.
On Friday 12 August 2022, officers followed up on information received from Crime Intelligence of a house in the Lawley area which has always been linked to stolen and hijacked vehicles.
From the information received, stolen or hijacked vehicles were allegedly brought to the house where they would be stripped and chopped up by perpetrators.
After several days of tireless observation, officers conducted a tactical raid at the premises and an Isuzu 400 truck was found on the property.
Three males were found on the premises working on the truck which was positively identified as being hijacked. The identity of the vehicle was being altered and tampered with in an attempt to disguise the vehicle so it could be smuggled across the border.
The trio were placed under arrest and detained at Ennerdale SAPS. The vehicle and other suspected stolen property found on the premises were seized and booked in at the SAPS Lenasia pound for verification.
