Truck driver shot multiple times after hijackers open fire on his truck on N2 in KZN

A truck driver sustained gunshot wounds after his truck was shot at by alleged hijackers attempting to forcefully pull him over on the N2 highway near the Tugela bridge in KwaZulu-Natal on Friday morning.

IPSS MEDICAL and IPSS SECURITY responded to the scene of the attempted hijacking to find the truck in the bush.

It is alleged that the truck was transporting medical supplies travelling north when a vehicle tried to force the driver to pull over.
When the driver refused to comply, the suspects opened fire on the truck firing several rounds which hit the driver’s door and the windscreen. The driver sustained multiple gunshot wounds from the gunfire.

He then lost control of the truck and left the road, coming to rest near the Tugela Bridge.

The driver was transported to the hospital under the care of IPSS Medical advanced life support in a critical condition.

“It appears several boxes were removed from the truck,” said IPSS security. The scene was secured by SAPS and will be investigated further.
