One South African and three Zimbabwean males were arrested by the JMPD for planning to rob a Pick n Pay store

FOUR SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN POSSESSION OF THREE UNLICENSED FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION IN HILLBROW 

One South African and three Zimbabwean males were arrested by the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) IIOC Undercover officers in Hillbrow for possession of three unlicensed firearms and ammunition. 

Working on information received of a group of males who were planning to rob a Pick n Pay store. Officers were informed of a White Toyota Corrolla which was parked at Leyds and Claim Streets, Hillbrow. The vehicle was going to be used by the suspects to drop off the firearms and cash. 

Officers spotted and patiently monitored the vehicle for hours. On Saturday 14 May 2022 at about 02h00am the suspects who were using two vehicles, a Silver Volkswagen Polo Sedan and a Silver Volkswagen Jetta 5 parked next to the Toyota Corolla.  

The suspects were tactically approached and apprehended. They were searched, three firearms and 42 live ammunition were found in their possession. One firearm had it's serial number filed off and the other two firearms were checked. It was discovered that they belong to a security company and were sought as per Primrose and Jeppe SAPS case. 

The suspects were arrested and detained at Hillbrow SAPS. The vehicles were seized and booked in at the SAPS Aeroton pound for further investigation. 

The suspects will likely appear at court on Monday 16 May 2022.
