A 33 year old Mumbian Woman was stabbed repeatedly during a Hijacking in Ottawa - Verulam a few hours ago.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received multiple distress calls from residents on Sunker Road at approximately 14:05 (Tuesday 15/03/2022) reporting a Hijacking/Robbery in progress. Reaction Officers were despatched to the scene. The RUSA Operations Center then received further calls reporting a woman bleeding profusely from multiple stab wounds to her body. Paramedics were routed to the same location.
Upon arrival First Responders found a woman with eight stab wounds to her upper body. Paramedics stabilized the woman on scene & rapidly transported her to a hospital in a critical condition.
When interviewed on scene, a 21 year old male informed Reaction Officers that he & his sister in law were from Mumbai - India and operated a Chicken Tikka & Salon business in Dawncrest Verulam since arriving in South Africa in 2018.
Earlier today (Tuesday) the man accompanied his sister in law to a premises to fetch stock. When they arrived at the premises they noticed two males waiting near the building and picking card boards and cans. One of the men approached the victim and asked for food/money.
After informing them that all he could offer them was a cigarette, both suspects accepted and the passenger then alighted from the vehicle and walked towards the premises to fetch the stock he had ordered for his business. Minutes later he heard his sister in law scream hysterically.
He then ran towards the vehicle and found one of the card board collectors with a firearm and the second repeatedly stabbing the woman. They then threw her out of her grey 2013 Honda Civic (picture 5) with registration ND 275-302 and fled with the vehicle. Cash & two mobile phones were also taken.
An extensive search is currently (15:08) being conducted for the suspects.
